THE SGFLOORHUB WORKBOOK / 02 — BUDGET

Flooring Budget Planner

A useful budget starts
with a complete scope.

Bring your own rates. Separate material, labour, extra work, GST and the reserve you choose to keep.

Open the worksheet ↓
01

Start with the measured scope.

Bring an area calculation from this browser tab, or enter the figures below.

02

Use the rates on your proposal.

Material is priced on order area; installation is priced on measured area. If a package already includes labour, enter 0 for installation and record the included scope. These are your rates, not market prices.

03

Expose the additional costs.

Enter quantity × unit price for each quoted item. Leave unused lines at 0. Keep area, length, items and lump sums distinct.

Additional cost lines — open to enter quoted extras
04

Check GST and the planning reserve.

Use the supplier's GST treatment. IRAS lists the current standard GST rate as 9%; confirm registration and the quote. The reserve is a planning allowance after GST, not a charge on the supplier's invoice.

Compare the same installed scope.

Use the rates from an actual proposal or your own planning assumptions. The worksheet does not supply market prices, recommend a contractor or create a quotation. Keep the material reference, area units, preparation and exclusions beside the figures.

Separate the quantities.

Material supply uses the order area, which may include allowance and whole-pack rounding. Installation uses measured area. If a package already includes labour, enter zero for a separate installation charge to avoid double-counting. Additional cost lines use the quantities and units you enter.

Keep GST and reserve visible.

Choose whether entered prices exclude GST, already include it, or should have no GST added by this worksheet. Check the supplier's treatment and IRAS's current rate guidance. The reserve is calculated after the chosen GST treatment and is a planning allowance, not an extra supplier invoice charge.

Take the open questions back to the proposal.

Review removal, levelling, skirting, doors, transitions, logistics and protection in the Quotation Checklist. For a quantity record, start with the Area & Wastage Calculator.

Does a low total show that a quote is complete?

No. An omitted work item or unpriced assumption can change the installed scope. Confirm exclusions and variation approval before comparing the totals.
