Wallpaper Installation Planning in Singapore

Build the installation brief around the chosen wallcovering, wall condition and hanging sheet. Resolve removal, preparation, adhesive, layout and handover before work begins.

Start with a wall survey

Photograph the wall and mark cracks, damp patches, loose paint, previous coverings and uneven areas. Ask the installer which defects require investigation or repair before decoration. A wallcovering can change the visible finish while leaving an underlying problem unresolved.

Brewster’s preparation resource describes clean, dry, smooth and primed walls for its installations. Use the selected manufacturer’s current instructions to establish the preparation and curing conditions for your own reference.

Keep the hanging system together

Confirm the exact backing, adhesive and hanging method before ordering. Arte’s video library separates paper-backed, non-woven, textile, natural and other construction examples. Those videos are demonstrations for named systems, not a universal method for every product.

Ask who supplies primer and adhesive, which wall substrates they support and how departures from the product instructions will be reviewed. Retain the hanging sheet supplied with the rolls.

Agree matching, seams and corners

Record pattern repeat, match type, panel sequence and any reverse-hanging instruction. Plan starts and cuts around the principal sight lines, corners, doors and furniture. Check material quantities against that layout rather than wall area alone.

Discuss treatment of sockets, trims and service access with the appropriate trades. Agree finishing responsibilities without treating the wallpaper installer’s quote as permission for unrelated electrical work.

Coordinate preparation and access

Ask for the actual programme covering removal, repairs, preparation, hanging and return to ordinary use. Drying and working conditions belong to the chosen products and the site; avoid a universal waiting period copied from another system.

Provide clear access and protection arrangements for retained furniture and floors. Establish how defects found after removal will be photographed, scoped and approved before extra work proceeds.

Keep the finished-wall record

Review the first installed area and the completed pattern, corners and edges against the agreed plan and manufacturer instructions. Record outstanding work and product details at handover.

Collect the care guide, remaining labelled material where practical, supplier contact and separate product or workmanship terms. A complete quotation makes removal, repair, primer, adhesive, hanging, matching allowance and finishing visible from the start.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Should the installer choose adhesive before knowing the wallpaper?

Confirm the product first. The approved adhesive and method should support its backing, construction and wall substrate.

Can new wallpaper cover a damp patch?

Investigate the moisture source before decoration. Covering the patch does not establish that the wall is ready or that the cause has been resolved.

Is there one drying time for all wallpaper jobs?

No useful universal time applies to every preparation and hanging system. Use the product instructions and the actual site programme.
