Wall Panel Picks in Singapore

Design the face. Specify the system.

A system-first shortlist for fluted profiles, acoustic treatments and decorative surfaces. Compare the face, the fixing and the evidence together.

A wall panel is a system, not just a face

Before choosing a finish, name its job. Is the brief decorative depth, a durable surface, reduced reverberation or access to something concealed? Those aims can lead to different constructions. A slatted photograph does not tell you the core, backing, fixing method or measured acoustic performance.

01

Existing wall

Condition, flatness, moisture concerns and services.

02

Support & fixing

The approved frame, adhesive or mechanical connection.

03

Panel construction

Face, core, backing and the exact product reference.

04

Installed details

Joints, edges, corners, access and the full assembly.

This layer map is a briefing aid, not an installation detail. The chosen supplier and installer should document the complete assembly for the actual wall. Keep every finish claim attached to the relevant product and mounting configuration.

Three picks, depending on what the wall must do

DECORATIVE DEPTH

Fluted and slatted feature panels

Start here when shadow, repetition and a timber-like or coloured profile are the design priority. Compare a realistic sample length with the lighting switched on. Review the visible ends, external corners and the point where the pattern meets sockets, doors or skirting.

Ask what the product actually contains and how it is fixed. The same-looking profile can have a different core and backing. Reserve “acoustic” for a documented acoustic system rather than assuming that any grooves will achieve a target.

ROOM ACOUSTICS

A documented absorber for an acoustic brief

Start here when a room needs an acoustic assessment. Ask for the exact product, thickness, mounting, air gap where relevant and test information. Autex Quietspace is one example of a named absorber with product and installation documentation; it is not evidence for an unrelated slatted panel.

Separate room sound absorption from reducing sound transmission through a separating wall. A reported absorption rating is not a guaranteed decibel reduction between rooms. If neighbour noise is the problem, request an assessment of the transmission paths and complete construction before buying a decorative panel.

SURFACE FINISH

Laminates and films for a finish brief

Start here when the priority is a coordinated surface on a specified substrate. A laminate sheet and an architectural film are different routes, with different preparation and edge details. EGGER’s laminate resources illustrate the need to read technical, processing and care information together.

For a refurbishment, inspect the underlying surface before approving the finish. For a new panel, agree the core, edge treatment and fixing system. Do not transfer a surface-sheet rating to the whole wall without relevant assembly evidence.

Four claims to read carefully

Claim in the proposal Evidence to request
Acoustic Named report, tested specimen and mounting; explanation of the room target
Fire performance Applicable product / assembly evidence and project-specific Singapore review
Moisture suitability Permitted exposure and instructions for all layers, joins and fixings
Emissions or sustainability Named document, scope, validity and exact reference rather than a generic badge

SCDF’s wall and ceiling finish provisions depend on the location and use. For a commercial project, circulation route or other regulated application, have the project professional determine the applicable requirements and acceptable evidence. A foreign classification displayed on a brochure does not by itself settle Singapore compliance.

Ask for the awkward details before the attractive render

  • A dimensioned elevation with panel widths, cuts and joint positions.
  • A sample corner and end profile that shows the exposed core treatment.
  • Socket, switch and service-access coordination.
  • Any proposed concealed lighting, ventilation or electrical work.
  • The method for removing a damaged panel and obtaining a matching replacement.

Questions worth asking

Are fluted panels always acoustic panels?

No. A visual profile does not establish absorption performance. Read the exact construction and the applicable tested mounting.

Will a high absorption rating soundproof the room?

It does not establish a sound-insulation result through a wall. Ask which problem is being measured and which complete construction addresses it.

Can one certificate cover all colours and thicknesses?

Check the certificate and report scope. Match the exact offered reference and assembly to the evidence; do not assume a family name covers every variation.
