Wallpaper Picks in Singapore
Pattern. Texture. A sense of place.
A visual shortlist for botanical repeats, textured backdrops and custom murals, paired with the wall preparation and order details that make them work.

Three wallpaper directions to explore
The visual idea and the wallcovering construction are two separate decisions. A linen effect may be printed or textured on a different face material; a botanical design may be a repeating roll or a large mural. Start with the atmosphere, then identify what the actual reference is made from. Arte’s library makes a useful distinction between texture and material filters.

A botanical focal wall
Build a palette around one or two colours already present in the room. View the repeat at a useful scale behind the furniture rather than approving a thumbnail. Ask where the pattern starts and which joins will be most visible.

A mural with a deliberate viewpoint
Use the measured elevation to place the important part of the composition. Check how windows, sockets, shelves and the sofa crop the artwork. Approve panel order and the final crop before printing or ordering.

A textured backdrop
Compare the real surface under light from the side as well as from the front. A quiet colour can still have a strong texture or visible seams. Confirm care and expected variation for the chosen construction.

The Wallcoverings Association distinguishes face and backing combinations such as vinyl-coated paper and fabric-backed vinyl. That is why “washable”, “non-woven” and “textured” should not be treated as interchangeable labels. Identify both the decorative face and the backing, then read the product’s installation and cleaning instructions.
| Shortlist route | Why consider it | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Non-woven-backed reference | A named roll design with a clearly identified backing | The face material, adhesive method, repeat and removal instructions |
| Vinyl-faced reference | A brief that includes a specified cleaning requirement | The actual permitted cleaning, backing and stated application |
| Natural / textile wallcovering | A tactile material-led design brief | Expected variation, seam appearance, delicate-care limits and sample approval |
| Digital mural | A composed image fitted to a measured elevation | Artwork scale, crop, panel sequence, printing reference and approved wall preparation |
The wall is part of the wallpaper choice
Read the surface
Tell the installer about staining, loose paint, cracks, existing wallcovering and previous repairs. Active moisture deserves investigation before a decorative covering is proposed.
Read installation planningSpecify the preparation
Ask which repairs, primer and adhesive are required for the wall and the selected reference. WIA identifies preparation as important for adhesion and future removal.
Understand constructionsAgree the finish
Review a useful-size sample and a setting-out plan. Record the intended joins, corners and treatment around openings before the wall is covered.
Plan mural detailsA quantity example that explains why roll counts differ
Illustrative arithmetic only: imagine a wall 3.00 m wide and 2.70 m high, a roll 0.53 m wide and 10 m long, and a plain design with no repeat. If the installer allows a 2.80 m cut length, the wall needs six full-width drops and each roll yields three drops. The simple starting result is two rolls.
A pattern repeat, matching method, corner detail, offcuts, batch planning or contingency can change that result. These assumed figures are not a specification for any product. Ask the installer for the cutting plan using the actual reference, rather than dividing wall area by roll area. A mural needs its own panel-and-crop calculation.
Use the wider project cost worksheetKeep the pattern reference and batch information with the quotation. Ask whether leftover material should be retained and what the supplier recommends for any future repair. A matching printed design name does not by itself promise an invisible later patch.
Questions worth asking
Is textured wallpaper always a natural material?
No. Texture describes an appearance or surface effect; identify the actual face and backing. Arte’s filters show why those categories should be checked separately.
Can wallpaper hide a damp wall?
A decorative finish is not a remedy for an active moisture problem. Investigate the cause with the appropriate professional before approving the covering.
Does the wall area give the exact roll quantity?
Not by itself. Drop length, usable width, repeat, matching and the setting-out plan determine the cutting quantity. Use the actual reference and installer’s calculation.
