Begin with the job the floor must do
“Best flooring” is useful only when the requirement is clear. A bedroom, busy reception and rain-exposed balcony do not ask the same things of a surface. Write down daily use, likely spills, furniture movement, cleaning arrangements and the existing floor before reviewing products.
SGFloorHub currently offers a selection framework, not a scored product league table. Named product rankings will require product-specific documents, a stated comparison method and an identified project context.

Build a product evidence sheet
Compare the exact offered products. Record their construction, installation method, declared applications, relevant performance reports and cleaning requirements. Missing data remains a question; it does not become a positive score.
- Confirm the product code and the documents that apply to it.
- Separate overall thickness from wear-layer information where relevant.
- Check the actual installed assembly behind acoustic claims.
- Ask how a damaged section would be repaired.
- Compare quotations with equivalent preparation and accessories.
Balance the trade-offs
Natural variation may be a reason to choose wood and also a reason to view several boards. Modular carpet may help a repair strategy, while roll layouts need their own seam plan. A surface that feels attractive in a showroom still needs a compatible installation system. Explain which trade-offs you accept rather than declaring an entire material superior.
Start with the six material families and read side-by-side comparisons before looking for a supplier.
How future rankings will be presented
A future “best” article should state its application, selection criteria, evidence date and relevant limitations. A recommendation based on documents will be described as a document-based comparison. Hands-on testing will be claimed only when it has actually taken place. Sponsored visibility will be identified separately from editorial conclusions.
See our editorial standards for the approach.
